Invisible Inc.

I was reminded that Invisible Inc. was a game that was real and good. So I decided to just play through a game, which ended up pretty well! I managed to get through a full game, making it through five or six different missions without screwing up too terribly (although there was a mission that I had to rewind like three times because I kept getting caught by guards) and making it to the final stage and installing the AI into the new port, which was the point of the game. I have a feeling because I was playing in baby mode that the ending was bad. Because it was pretty bad! Some stuff happened that I did not want to happen! But this is a really fun game. I like it. I think I will play it more.

Grim Dawn, Sonic Spinball

The Steam Sale is here, and so I have purchased a couple of games for no particular reason. The first was Grim Dawn, which is a Diablo-like that is supposed to feature a bunch of crazy advancement options, so that's why I bought it. It's GRIM! And DAWN. It's fine. I have nothing to really say about it at this point.

I also bought Sonic Spinball, despite the fact that I totally remember this first level and remember hating it, because how do I do this thing? What is the point of this? Why is the first level so goddamn ugly? Why wouldn't the first level be a casino level? I have so many questions!

Final Fantasy XIV

I had a wisdom tooth extracted, which hurt like hell, so to help mitigate to pain (and because I just kind of fell into it), I decided to just play way too much Final Fantasy XIV. I did a lot of crafting, a LOT of crafting, so much so that I'm really close to getting everything to 50. I also did some story quests, going through a dungeon and then far enough to stand at the precipice of the next one.

I am extremely disappointed in the storyline at the point. The story has basically hit the reset button on the dramatic changes that happened at the end of the primary campaign, effectively making the death of all your friends completely pointless. The assassinated queen isn't actually dead, the political landscape will remain exactly the same, and we are no longer exiles, so there's no reason to be helping the people we are currently helping. I just don't like it. Why did Y'shtola have to do? I LIKED her.

Stardew Valley
I remembered that Stardew Valley was a game, and then I played it for a day. One day. I kind of forgot what was going on, and it's winter, so that sucks, but at least I learned how to make sashimi? I don't know.

Rhythm Heaven Megamix

Just juking away at Rhythm Heaven, they have gotten harder, but I made it all the way to a credits screen, only to find that it was a FALSE credit screen and I still have several more things to do. That was a nice surprise, although I really should have expected it when I made it to the "final" stage and got my first Remix level. I thought, "Oh, the remix level, I really like these because they required me to stay on my feet. Too bad there is apparently just this one. Oh well." Then the fake credits happened and revealed I would have to play more intricate versions of every single level I've encountered so far AND do remixes involving each one. So...this might take a while.

Final Fantasy XIV

Putting in way too much time in Final Fnatasy XIV today. Just got into the crafting groove and crafted so much. SO MUCH. I got my leatherworking up to level 50, which means there's only six more to go, and they are going a lot faster than I was expecting.

Rhythm Heaven Megamix

They have released a Rhythm Heaven game that combines all the old Rhythm Heaven game to the 3DS, so I bought it! I like Rhythm Heaven!

The game is pretty good, just silly minigames. Nothing I hadn't seen before. Although I did fail out so many times with a dumb delayed response game that the game took pity on me and let me move on without finishing it. That was embarrassing.

Stellaris, Undertale

I played another couple of hours of Stellaris, in which not much of note happened. I just constantly expanded my territory, because that's what there is to do. Although I am at a bit of a loss because my primary social currency is now in the red, there are very few methods of gaining it, and I need that to keep expanding. Well, maybe I'll spend some time building up my armies and my research speed, populate all the planets I can get my hands on, etc.

I also played Undertale, because I had forgotten about that game, and I befriended a bunch of dogs and messed with a couple of skeletons and made it to a town. Interesting! I did actually get stuck at one point because my skills were not good enough. It's nice to know that the game actually has challenges and not just whimsy.

Stellaris

I played through a bit of Stellaris, making friends with a group of space mushrooms and exploring the galaxy. I peered into a black hole and drove one of my scientists insane for little reward. A group of pirates have popped up near my region and are now wandering around taking out my satellites in unguarded systems. And just generally researching so that I can survive on different planets, because planets are a lot more useful for gaining resources than my dumb expensive satellites.

Rift

I went ahead and completed a few of my lingering quests in Rift's, things I had abandoned in years long past. One of them awarded me with a really good pair of pants! Why did I wait so long to get these pants? I'm not really sure what I'm doing anymore, but I did figure out how to get to the 51+ content, so maybe I'll just play that? Maybe that's what I'll do? I don't know. I found out they added a goddamn Farmville game within the game, which doesn't make any sense, frankly.

Rift, World of Warcraft

I played about another hour of World of Warcraft and became VERY BORED. It's just quest after quest after quest, all of which are pretty pointless, and I got my first "talent," which was three different versions of "move slightly faster," and so I decided, "I probably don't need to pick this up again" and stopped playing. What the fuck am I going to do, join a guild? Run dungeons? Play their dumb version of Pokemon? Come on, World of Warcraft.

So, because I missed the talents trees so much, I downloaded Rift, because it is technically free to play, and why not? What will it hurt? There's been a bunch of stuff added, right? I can now level up to...65? That can't be right. 65 is a weird number. Why not 70? Well whatever, maybe there are new soulpaths or whatever. Maybe they finally realized that every single archetype should be able to play every single role, otherwise what the goddamn point of your weird level up system.

HEY! They took my advice! Oh man, and there's a new archetype too, that's fun. How much does it cost to get those? $150 you say. Alright bye! Okay okay, I'll play for a bit, but I'm not ready to jump in with all my feet yet. World of Warcraft managed to bore me in four hours, for Christ's sake.

World of Warcraft

I received an e-mail from World of Warcraft saying that I could claim the most recent expansion for free and play for free for seven days. It has been at least two years since I tried to play this game last (although I remember being a bit disappointed that they abandoned their talent system flatout for something incredibly boring), so I downloaded it and played a Paladin up to level 10 because why not? The game seems fine still. It's still World of Warcraft. I am nowhere close to all the "interesting" stuff, I know, but I figure if I play from the bottom up all the changes they made would make a little more sense.

Stellaris

I bought Stellaris. I should have waited. Oh, the game is fine, I am just bad at playing games in a timely manner. Super Mario World
I was in a mood to play something different, so I played a game that I've played dozens of times before. It was fun though! Twilight Struggle

I finally decided that I was going to learn how to play Twilight Struggle, and what do you know, there's an electronic version now! That's cool! So I purchased it and started playing. I had several unsuccessful games as the United States that I just gave up halfway through because I got a bunch of crappy hands, and then a game as the USSR which I won by turn 3. I think the lesson is that the early game favors USSR a lot and the US needs to work past that and get to turn 4 as painlessly as possible. It's still a weird dynamic overall, especially when you aren't expecting it.

Mini Metro, Crusader Kings 2

I got myself into a strategy mode by watching some videos on the Internet. I saw a bit of video about this new video game Stellaris and thought, "This is good, I should buy this," only to discover that it is not for sale until Monday. So I got sidetracked and tried to play Crusader Kings 2 instead. I do not understand Crusader Kings. I may never understand Crusader Kings. It is kind of insane in the amount of details that are involved and I don't know what's going on. I managed to lose really well though. My army that was supposed to take all of Britain died really quickly.

I also played a couple of games of Mini Metro, which is still exactly the same game. For some insane reason, I played a game with a lot of rivers that refused to give me more tunnels. How am I supposed to handle that station on that island all by itself? I used all my tunnels up during the first week. Come on.

I had a bit of a tough day, but all of the Civil War events have started in all of the Marvel free-to-play games that I play, so I spent a bit of time doing those. It is kind of weird how many Marvel free-to-play games there are. Like, I only play half of them, but they are constantly updating, it's weird. WEIRD.
