What I Played Today: April 11

Civilization Revolution, Final Fantasy XIII

Had a bit more success with Civilization Revolution today; played through a couple of games, in fact, which is pretty unheard of considering. I think the second game was unnaturally short because I was wholeheartedly focused on the economic victory, which the map made much easier than usual. At the end of the game, I was getting over 3000 gold a turn! Way more than I knew what to do with. It also helped the other civilizations seemed to be okay with me just continually filling my coffers; I don’t think I got into a single fight with another civ. Pretty fun.

More Final Fantasy XIII, a lot of real emotional moments, and any goddamn minute they want to send us to Gran Pulse, I’ll gladly go. It is close to 20 hours now, and I’ve spent the last hour or so just running my shit around. A lot of fighting, and some interesting interactions, but dear Lord it is about time that I start doing something instead of running away from trouble. This particular plot point is getting pretty old.

I did get to see a lot more of this chick, who spends most of her time strutting about and being sassy while the camera always seems to be right above her left shoulder, I WONDER WHY! She spends most of Chapter 8 being a pretty cool cucumber, and then becomes a complete joke in Chapter 9, having a stupid little routine involving code colors, and then shouting out of nowhere, “Make it rain!” Considering her outfit, this is a hilarious thing to say. I’m starting to wonder if the translators even know that half the minor characters can’t be taken seriously at all. Nora, Yaz, Sawyer, Stripperella here with her Avril Lavigne-style necktie, it’s a parade of silly characters on the sidelines.
