Overlord
Another gaming experience marred by some obnoxious controls and a plotline that starts getting dumb. I was struggling with this one part, as I’m trying to awkwardly control my stupid imps against a veritable horde of jerks who were able to tear apart my minions in seconds flat, meaning that I died two or three times just trying to get in the front door of the zone I was in. Once I got in there, I had to keep knocking down walls that were on fire, that require a special kind of imp, and controlling individual imps is fairly obnoxious in this game...especially when directly behind those walls are enemies that can destroy the fireproof imps in about two seconds.
I also ran across a damsel, and that’s got to be the most contrived plot point I’ve seen in a game so far. This woman is apparently a duchess or something, she has her own castle, and multiple servants, and for some reason, I kill a beholder in her house and she’s all “hey, I’m gonna come live at your house now," despite the fact that the main character looks like Sauron and walks around being followed by a mob of horrible, unfunny imps. Sure lady, you seem exactly like my kind of crazy. I just find it hard that she willingly becomes the overlord’s mistress; I know the other method is pretty non-PC, but man, the character doesn’t seem very evil at all, the way that everyone is acting around him.
