What I Played Today: March 28

Three Dragon Ante, Fairy Tale

Last day of PAX, and it went alright, although I didn't see much else. I didn't win the DM Challenge, no surprise, and couldn't find much else that I was willing to spend time on, so I wandered around some more, bought a couple of stuff, and eventually went back to the friend's house to chill out for a while.

He managed to win the game he was after, the "sequel" to the old D&D game, Three Dragon Ante. We played a few games of that. In it you play three cards, trying to get the highest score or, barring that, use the powers of the cards to punish or assist you. It's a clever but simple game, although I got crushed in every game. There's a particular nasty card that forces the person to give a rare card or pay 4 gold, so I ended up losing a lot of gold that way.

We also played a quick game of Fairy Tale, a drafting game where you were trying to get the most points. I like the attempt and synergy, but it doesn't exactly work with 2 players. I look forward to taking it to try with the gaming group though. It's a nice little filler.
