Kingdom Hearts: 386/2 Days, My Pet Protector 2
I’ve been playing a bit more of Kingdom Hearts, which has convinced me that the story is ridiculous. I’ve gotten to the point where I could see the overlaps with the other games, and I can only say the story doesn’t make any sense. It’s pretty pointless, and there’s never any reason for anything in the game to happen. The constant intrusion of Disney elements just start to wear upon the storyline, because it just feels stupid whenever you wander into a Disney icon. Oh look, it’s Aladdin, which doesn’t collude with the other characters I’ve seen before at all. This little crossover is actually a horrible idea, isn’t it?
I’ve also been playing a Flash game that is beyond stupid. It turns out to be a very confusing simulation, where you play a kid growing up in the fantasy realm. There are about 30 statistics, half of which doesn’t do anything at all. It’s goofy; you spend half the time resting, and the other half wandering through pointless dungeons and looking at screens that don’t make any sense. You’re simultaneously building your village, managing your inventory, working pointless jobs that do nothing, learning skills, and adventuring, and oh my god it’s boring. But it’s so addictive.
Watching so many numbers crawl from 0 to 1000 is just so intriguing, and yet, not at all relevant. The game is supposed to end after 7 years, but I haven’t yet gotten to that point. It’s just the draw of an RPG, the constant moving upward, that keeps drawing me in. Lord help me if I ever play it again.
