I played a couple of difficult-to-announce board games today! The first was a bit of a dice and strategy, in which each player gets a number of dice based on what districts they control, and they can do a certain number of things with them. It was hard to learn, and harder to explain! Not the least of which being that they decided a completely language neutral board was a plus, that it made the whole thing look like it was Dutch or something. But it was fun. The only sad thing is that the game is really dependent on good rolls, so if you roll poorly, you can't do much, and if you roll well, people are going to steal your good dice anyway. But it's definitely interesting.
Then a game about balloons! It's basically a blind bid game, in which you choose a card and hope that it's the highest and will help you rise your balloon. I lost pretty poorly, mainly because the few times I effectively used the grappling hook, which ties your fate to the person above you, it pushed me down. But it's quick!
