What I Played Today: March 8

Pre-Civilization Marble Age

There was this dumb flash game that I played a while ago that is basically Civilization in thirty minutes, and the team (or, more probably, dude) who made that came out with a sequel that added a ton of little details and diplomacy and exploration and major events and selling on Steam for five bucks. So I picked it up and gave it a spin; the game has the same flow, where you start with very limited number of dudes and so many things you can assign them to do, and with each technology and building you suddenly have thousands of people and places to assign them and each thing is progressively more expensive, etc. The exploration and diplomacy is a good touch, as it also adds trading, which is helpful for picking up resources you are lagging behind in. The military events seem to be set, though, which is unfortunate, as I imagine they might get old over each playthrough. Maybe they are more randomized at harder difficulties. But yeah, dumb little strategy game.
