Tonight, I walked very, very close to getting 100% items in Shadow Complex. I am on the last item, which requires me to use the stupid SuperRun, which I actually hate, because the only times you need to use it is when you don’t have enough room to actually use it. It’s a pain in the butt, and I’m kinda sick of wasting my time trying to get this one stupid puzzle right. But...the thrill of completionism. We’ll see.
I also played Overlord for about ten minutes. It was maybe the 10th game on my GameFly list, but nothing else was available, so they sent me this. I remember playing the demo some time ago, but I don’t remember the comparison to Pikmin being so pronounced. They even use the same “use right joystick to lead Pikmin around” control. And I’m not really digging the sense of humor; it’s just so Ben Stiller. But I’ll play it for a bit, just because I’m saving FFXIII so I don’t overdo it.In a throe of boredom, I also played a flash game called ImmorTall, and as far as I can tell, it’s supposed to be an art game about...World War II, maybe? Anyway, you control a tall thing of indeterminate origin, and the only gameplay element is protecting a family from gunfire. You get slower and weaker the further in the game, and after about a minute and a half of protecting this family that I have no reason to care about from danger, the main character dies, and it suddenly snows on him. It’s....not good. It’s not challenging, it doesn’t tell a worthwhile story, and it feels like a college project more than an actual game. I find it really odd that Kongregate would qualify this game with an achievement when it takes maybe five minutes to be disappointed in the experience. Also, the name is misleading and a bad pun.
