Final Fantasy XIII
Alright, it is getting interesting now. There was a lot of running around and hitting things with swords, but I’m liking the new system, being able to switch classes on the fly, the fact that I don’t have to do maintenance between every combat. The fast pace means there’s a lot of stuff I think I’m missing, but I’m probably wrong, and it’s nice that even boss fights can take about two or three minutes, instead of hour-long affairs. (I’m looking at you, Persona 3 final boss.) I also got to learn how to perform a fight to get a summon. The summons in this games are goofy as hell, mainly because they are transformers.
SPEAKING OF! One of the characters I’m liking is Sazh. He’s confident but cranky, and keeps reminding us that he’s “too old for this shit.” Plus, he’s got a chocobo chick hidden in his afro! His voice acting is pretty subtle, and his actions just inexplicable enough to be interesting. Only problem? He was the voice of Mudflap in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I...just cannot believe that. How he can put on such a decent performance here when he had to read such ridiculous lines in that pile of garbage. I hope they paid him a lot of money. Also, the voice of Vanille has a funny name. Georgia van Cuylenburg. It almost sounds made up.
