No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle
I started playing No More Heroes 2 today, just to see what the deal was. It started pretty positively, with a boss fight with some guy you’re not supposed to care about. I had a hard time because I couldn’t get my lightsaber recharged, but I eventually took him out and got reintroduced to the world of Santa Destroy...with the exact same plot device as the first. You’re back in the assassin rankings and that cocktease is again plying you with promises of hot monkey sex. There is confirmation that Travis has gotten laid, however.
It’s changed a bit. The parts that everyone groused about, the driving around and the silly sidegames, they have been replaced. You can no longer drive around town, instead just instantly teleporting you to the correct location. The menial jobs have also been replaced with 8-bit era minigames; which is fascinating until you realize that this is a Wii, not an NES. It will likely work, I bet, and considering the aesthetic that the game played with in the first one, it’s a good choice, but it still feels like we’re being toyed with. You also can now do something with the cat! There’s a minigame to try to make the cat lose weight, funny.
But overall, yeah, it appears to be an expanded and readjusted experience that’ll be similar to the first one; I haven’t actually taken an assassination job yet, but considering you are start at rank 51 this time around instead of 11...there might be more game here. Or more tricks, who knows.
