What I Played Today: August 16

Rift, Age of Empires Online

On Rift today, had a few player interactions while hanging out in the desert. At one point, I was doing my thing when a dude walked up, instajoined my party, and helped me kill some dang dragons, even though he was doing pretty well on his own. Then, I started closing some rifts, because I need some dang endless planar dust, and some guy joins me, and suddenly the plan became to go rift hunting together. We didn't manage to close any, because we couldn't take on a major one with just two, and so we just did a couple of whatevers and I got bored, so I gave him a water beetle (I had extra) and went on my way.

Then I tried Age of Empires Online, and I don't even get this game. It's a RTS MMO, they handle this by requiring you to go to separate quest zones to actually do the RTSing. I played a couple of levels and then got bored. One thing that's superweird is how they are doing their premium content; you can't get it for a dollar at a time. The civilization packs are $20 each, and there is currently an offer for all new content for the next six months that costs $100. Who is going to drop $100 on a completely new, untested game? People wouldn't pay that for a new RTS that came in a box.
