Rift
I have stopped talking about Rift, because I thought you guys would be really bored with it! But since I spent most of the time experiencing the hot hot social life of Walnut Creek (so many painted on eyebrows), all I played today was about half an hour of Rift, in which I did a couple of daily quests. I have finally made it to top level crafting-wise for both of my key professions, so now all I have to do is get the good ingredients so I can craft the good shoulderpads, and man will this be tough. Crafting, like pretty much everything in this game, is currency based. In order to get the recipes to the good pants, you need to buy it with special plaques, which you can get three ways; as a random drop from the master-level crafting quest, from completing a quest to complete a special questing item, or as a random drop from a crafting rift. And of course, once you have the plaques, there's no guarantee that you'll be able to find the goods needed to make the gear. It requires just a little bit of patience.
So, I managed to get a few plaques earlier and have purchased the pattern to some sweetass shoulder pads. They require four materials that I can buy or craft pretty easily, and in fact already have on hand...and also requires three minor catalysts, which only drop from crafting rifts. Now, I can buy them from the auction house for five platinum a piece (I currently have about 45 plat; the fastest horse costs 135), but I kinda want to skip the middleman and do it myself, so I look into the quest to get a crafting rift lure...only to find that in order to make the item required for that, I need six endless planar dust. Okay, sure, I have one already, how hard can it be to get some more? Let's see what they are going for on the auction house on son of a bitch those also go for about five platinum a piece. This is when I throw my hands up and worry about it later.
