What I Played Today: August 20

Rift, Catherine

Let's just keep playing this game forever, shall we? Just, all the time! I did do something different today, going into a dungeon, because there's a button that I can push to do that right away. Now, my thoughts when I joined the random dungeon was "Oh, healers are pretty important, so it'll be easy to get into a dungeon if I switch to my healer set." This would be the same healer set that I haven't used for three months, and has, in fact, been modified since I last used it. This was a bad idea.

Within minutes of getting thrust into the random dungeon, the warrior was bitching that I wasn't healing correctly. Now, I was running a custom set that let me do half-healer, half-support, because I love support. This was NOT GOOD ENOUGH, as they constantly griped that I didn't have a particular spell (a spell that I only get if I go all in to the healer class, which sounds boring as hell). Of course, the fact that they were pulling like crazy means that they were assuming I could do a lot more than I had established to be able to do. Frankly, I'm willing to blame them. But we ran the dungeon twice and only once did the tank die, so I don't know what they were complaining about. We had no problems with the boss fights, just the trash that they were too impatient to handle properly. I also helped one of them remember the name of a TV show that they wanted to watch, so I feel good about that.

Got through the next nightmare in Catherine, enjoyed some time at the bar. Not sure what to think so far, because it will occasionally go into super-embarrassing "what are the odds?" situations, but the dramatic nature of it is kinda fun. One thing I like is that whenever you finish a drink, you get a little trivia lesson about booze. Did you know rum and cola's official name is Cuba Libre?
