What I Played Today: April 20-21

Persona 4 Golden

WELP! I am on vacation, and thus have a lot of downtime, so I have fallen into a Persona 4 K-Hole, in which I played the crap out of this game all damn weekend. Also watched all of Dexter Season 7. It was a confusing time.

Anyway, Kanji is now friends with us, and then there are some more really entertaining bits involving getting motorcycles and traveling to Okina City. There is a dumb bit where our three male heroes have a pick-up contest, which is dumb, and of course involves a fat chick destroying a scooter by sitting on it (she's fat, you see), and it transitions straight into the school camping trip, so...it's a solid hour of stupid, but then it starts getting fun again, with the Rise dungeon and all.

The fighting is almost ridiculously easy with all the little tweaks and additions they added, since I have a perfect High Pixie with three of four mass elemental spells and Invigorate 2, which managed to level up six times and had her skills improved greatly thanks to the new Shuffle Time mechanics, so now I can get back 10 MP at the beginning of every combat, which is amazing. And I haven't even used Skill Cards to cheat and create a perfect Persona from scratch. If anything, there are too many opportunities to learn new skills, as all my fighters have full rosters of skills and it's tough to figure out just what should be swapped out when I learn the new cool thing. Kinda wish there was a way to increase the number of skills a Persona had to 10 somehow.

So I quickly blazed through Rise's dungeon and saved her, and then just went to town on my Social Links and what not. So much running around to do. I am already at 7s with a lot of my links, while others I have neglected. The new social links are interesting, I guess, but not interesting enough. They moved a herd of not that interesting personas to those arcana, stuff like Pale Rider. When am I going to use Pale Rider, game?

But yeah, I still love the crap out of this game. And the new stuff is almost all fantastic. The first new motorcycle scene, in which Yosuke walks up to you and says completely out of context, "When they are right up against your back, it's like a squeeze play!" is just fucking golden. Persona 4 Golden. BOOM! #nailedit
