Robot Wants Ice Cream
Again with this series; this is the third game in the Robot Want series that I’ve played since starting the blog, meaning they have been churned out every three months or so. That’s how flash games work, I guess. This one though…is started to lose focus a bit. While the previous games were tight in their execution and the goal was obvious, this one is more freeform, with many twisting paths leading to the same areas where you can fight bosses to get access to upgrades. The upgrades range from obvious to stupid, you need to know how to fly and such, but you’re also giving an upgrade for the dog that follows you through the level that is completely unnecessary. I’ll just shoot the bad guys myself, thanks. Plus, it isn’t obvious, but once you’re done on the ground, you need to fly up to the spaceship and fight in there.
Another annoying thing is how the game starts with a short story saying that the robot jettisoned the cat into space because he was sick of his pluck. Wait, what? You mean the kitty he worked so hard to get in the first game and who was used to great effect in the second game? And you toss him out like a bag of socks and keep the worthless dog? What an asshole. Of course, the cat will most likely be the final boss, and that’s why they did it, but it’s just far out of character for an obvious plot twist. Yes, that’s right, I’m complaining about the plot developments of a flash game. Deal with it.
