What I Played Today: March 21

Rift

I played a lot of Rift today, continuing the exciting adventure across the land of Whatever-theyre-calling-it. I’m in the mid-teens level wise and have recently acquired a couple of new classes, so I might try to develop a new power set here shortly. I like that each little quest hub only has about three of four quests to attempt, all in the same general area, before you get shipped off to the next one, because it certainly varies what you’re staring at constantly, instead of always looking at the same character types, but that also means a lot of downtime moving from place to place, and it’s pretty hard to get invested in one group’s plight, especially with the omnipresent threat of the rifts constantly showing up, making the presence of some deep ones posing as regular people in the random village not that big of deal.

There are also a lot of different currencies in this game, which is weird. You have regular money, space money, crafter’s money, lucky money (which you get for collecting bullshit and can only use to buy bullshit), dungeon money. It’s a bit weird, that pretty much everything has a currency attached to it, and it’s tough to figure out just what I should be buying with it, because while most shops take real money, whenever I run across a shop that only takes money of a type I don’t have, I just ignore them and then forget what they were selling.
