What I Played Today: April 16

Rift

Hey guess what? I had a really good reason to play today though, as today was an event day, in which a bunch of stuff happened for maybe about two hours. It was kinda sad really, in which an invasion was in the works for about a month, and then suddenly it violently ended after the entire server threw themselves into fighting off the unique spawns. I was amazed how quickly it was over. First there was a raid boss that spawned in every zone, which, as everyone came together, started to fall faster and faster. I managed to visit three of them and got a couple of special quest drops, the only problem being that the quest items needed don’t seem to consistently drop as expected. Then the final boss spawned…in an area that anyone below level 50 could not reasonably get to, meaning that anyone who hadn’t been hard-grinding the game since release was not going to get to see the fight. After a futile attempt to try and get close enough, I gave up and just waited to see what would happen. Turns out, the server message that the big bad was up and walking showed up, and then about 45 seconds after, the message saying the big bad was now dead. That’s…pretty ridiculous. You have content not everyone can participate in, and those that can get pretty much no satisfaction out of it. Seems pretty iffy.
