Space Hulk: Death Angel, Wasabi!
Played a couple of tabletop games today. Recently I acquired the print-on-demand expansion pack for Space Hulk, which adds a few more locations and a new type of alien whose super-fast and terrible. We lost pretty soundly in the third room, with our guys constantly getting picked off and not really being able to keep up. The new locations add some okay effects, but nothing spectacular, and some of them aren’t even worth the effort. There is one room I liked that will never show up in any game I play, because it’s only for 5 player games. It’s a room with the new hull breach (which allows you to multishot any aliens there), and it spawns with a brood lord standing in the same space as the hull breach. It’s the “Ending to Aliens” room.
Afterwards we played a game of Wasabi, which I haven’t done in a while. I ended up winning by getting all 10 recipes completed, which I had to do to sneak past my opponent’s wasabi bowl, which greatly outnumbered my own. I feel a little bad though, because he had forgotten that was a victory condition, and I hadn’t reminded him. He also didn’t know that you could only play one special card per turn, so he was unable to complete the recipe he wanted before I won. I hate when I end up winning because I forget to make sure everyone knows all the rules, it makes me feel like a bad host. Some years ago, the gaming group I was in even went so far as describing a rule I forgot to tell them that ended up giving me an advantage as a “Josh rule,” so I try to dispense all the rules thoroughly, but again, I’m just occasionally super forgetful, so I forget to remember to not forget. (What?)
