What I Played Today: May 14

The Stars Are Right, Fairy Tale

I finally got around to playing The Stars Are Right, immediately after putting it up for sale, and I'm kinda glad that I did! The game is interesting, with the board that everyone has to manuever in order to get certain patterns to appear, and each card allowing specific ways of manipulating the board, but I don't think the world is smart enough to play a game that looks this simple. The game would come to a full-stop before my turn each time, and it just took too long to get back to me. I managed to summon a huge creature on turn 2, which was a bit awesome, but I somehow couldn't keep up the momentum.

Then a game of Fairy Tale, which I had forgotten how to play, which is bad because I was in charge of teaching it! Oops! I won, but it wasn't fair, because people weren't getting the point of the game, and one player managed to cripple himself really early by playing two -1 value monsters in the same round when he totally didn't need to. Oh well.
