Neuroshima Hex, Persona 3 Portable
I was all excited because I thought that I could get ahold of a new boardgame I’ve been looking forward to, but as it turns out it will actually be released on its actual release date, so I must be patient. Instead, I played a old game that was new to me, Neuroshima Hex. It’s a simple war-like game, where you draw a couple of hexes each turn, and place them on a small grid, trying to destroy your opponent’s base. The hexes don’t act on their own, they need to be given an order, and most of your dudes won’t last longer than a single exchange, so the game always comes down to the wire. It’s a game with a lot of tension and tempo.
Also, something terrible happened in Persona 3...one of my social links got lost in Tartarus. I was gravely concerned...it only took me thirty minutes to find him, but it was a nice change of pace to have an actual objective that I cared about in that big, dumb tower. Plus, the reward for saving my old man friend was pretty good, so there’s that.
