Guild Wars, Summer Session
So yesterday was a complete bust. I didn’t have much time for gaming because I needed to give a friend a ride, and the circumstances at the local gaming store were...unusual. There was supposed to be a guy running promos there, you know, on the side, but when I arrived to take a look, there were actually four people running demos and had taken over three tables. The fact that there are only six tables in the store and two were taken over by the Pathfinder group who we suddenly have to share space with, and I suddenly felt a little betrayed. I understand that you want to show off your games, that’s fair, but it feels a bit disingenuous to take over the entire game night.
But enough of that. I played some Guild Wars today, finally making that build I was going on about, and wouldn’t you know it, that doesn’t work very well either. Oh, it’s a lot stronger than the conditions one, but I forgot to account for my invisible party and the fact that I really depend on them to help me win...and they weren’t built to fit the Anuerysm build, they were built to support the crappy condition one. So, I got frustrated and quit. Can we get a release date on Guild Wars 2 already?
I also have a sudden interest in dating sims, because...I don’t feel like coming up with a reason. But they are all made in Japan, and Japan has some problems, in so far as you can’t get a game of that type over here that doesn’t have naked ladies, lolicon, and/or incest in it. But, in my bored searching, I found there is a small community online of native English speakers who create cheeky but not explicit games about relationships between consenting adults that aren’t related. So I downloaded a demo of one of their early games, Summer Session, and while it’s a bit low-end in graphics, there seems to be some effort there. Although I’m concerned that the game may be a little short...it has a set length mentioned in game of six weeks, and I played an entire week in only fifteen minutes. Seems a little weak for a game they’re asking $20 for.
