What I Played Today: June 14

Kentucky Route Zero, Mass Effect 3

I finally played through the first act of Kentucky Route Zero, which was trippy and weird. The premise is the story is different because you just randomly decided on a whim what certain people will say and do? It's an odd bit of thing, very artsy, very strange. At one point you are trapped underground? I don't know! It's weird!

Also, I had downloaded the latest Mass Effect 3 DLC because I hear it is a blast, and I kind of had a blast playing it, so...yeah. Want to hear about it? Because it's going to blow your mind! But there are spoilers...so...

What I Played Today: December 22

Don't Starve, Mass Effect 3

After finishing Mass Effect 3 (see below), I listened to a podcast I was avoiding, and during that podcast, they reminded me about Don't Starve, and clarified that if you buy it now, you immediately join the beta and can begin playing right away. WELL! That's all I needed to hear, and I jumped right in. Chopping down trees, collecting grass, dying. It is a very focused Minecraft, and I like it.

Oh what's that? You remember me mentioning finishing Mass Effect 3 a paragraph ago? Well!

Mass Effect 3

I am burning this down! Completed the Leviathan DLC, which explained quite a bit, and ran into that damn assassin again, but otherwise, nothing I really want to talk about. Should be finishing it pretty soon, started a final assault of sorts.

Innkeeper, Mass Effect 3

I screwed around on Kongregate for a long dumb while. This game Innkeeper is about an inn in Central America, I guess, and it's a standard ugly resource management thing. But for some reason, there's this big twist that the player character is actually dead the whole time? That seems like a stupid twist. Anyway, I got all the achievements for it, because why wouldn't I?

Then did a couple of crap missions in Mass Effect 3, where I did not understand where I should stand and I walked into deadly fog more times than was reasonable. Also, James just randomly shows up somewhere and it was hilarious. He was bored sitting on the ship!

More Mass Effect 3, and things are really heating up! I think! It is tough being exciting about a nine-month-old game. Anyway, my exploits are mildly spoiler-y, so I'm going to hid this behind a jump.....now.

Mass Effect 3

I have overcome my fear of a weird noise, and will be piledriving Mass Effect 3 as well as I can, because there are videos and podcasts on the Internet that I want to see and I can't do that without ruining the ending for myself. So instead I'm going to ruin it for you!

Okay, I didn't actually do much. Played through the section I started last time, then did some of the DLC stuff, which involved snooping around this guy's apartment. Shepard comes off incredibly stupid during this scene, in which stuff happens that he should be aware of, and he's all like, "What's going on? I mean, I have seen shit like this happen a handful of times, but I'm just going to play dumb for no reason." You've seen people be possessed before, Shepard. You saw that happen literally an hour ago. Get with the program.

Triple Town, Mass Effect 3

Triple Town! It is a ridiculous game, I am ridiculous for buying and then subsequently playing this. Let's not talk about it anymore.

Also, this website I follow is getting really close to spoiling the crap out of Mass Effect 3 for me, so I decided that I really need to get that done with. I had heard that one particular DLC really amps up the story, so I tried to download that, and it wasn't working, so I said screw it and started playing the game, ran into some guy I knew (this happens a lot in Mass Effect 3, I remember this), and then my Xbox made this terrifying noise that made me want to unplug my ears. This is the second time in a few days that my Xbox has done something weird, I really hope it's not dying on me. So I stopped, and turned it back on, and everything is normal again. Just...crossing my fingers here.

What I Played Today: March 31

Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3

I have finished up Mass Effect 2 with the super exciting Arrival DLC, which was pretty dang good, even though the achievements they gave me to do were bullshit. But it set up the next game nicely, and after an additional few minutes of dicking around, I realized I had had enough, and moved on to the next thing, Mass Effect 3! It is one number higher!

The game starts on Earth, in which something awful happens, and it sets off the main conflict. It involves Reapers, and you knew that. It is some pretty intense stuff, these things are terrifying, and eventually Shepard gets off Earth and heads to Mars, where some more bullshit happens. Turns out those guys who act like bad guys are some serious dickish bad guys after all. Man I hate them suddenly. But I have set off the main plot, met some good folk, and tried to punch a lady, and I totally whiffed it! It was pretty embarrassing. But I like it! Trying to get in touch with all the ways they've decided to make gameplay more like Mass Effect 1 will be confusing, as well as all the new changes, but I am looking forward to it! I will enjoy my journey!
