What I Played Today: July 19

Guild Wars 2, Werewolf

Playing some Guild Wars 2, I played some of that crazy racing game they made. It's dumb, and there's no way I'm going to win this. But...it was worth it for the achievement points.

Also played a game of Werewolf online, a quick game, I was a villager, and I claimed seer right away, why wouldn't I? It's a quick game! So I die Night 1, because my clear was a werewolf, but as it turned out, the two other seer claimants called a positive hit on my N0, so good ended up winning anyway. I realize that you probably have no idea what N0 means, and I'm okay with that.

Werewolf, Assassin's Creed 3

There has been a fiver sitting on the BGG forums for over two weeks now, so I decided to join in and help get that moving. After some waiting, we finally played. I was the hunter, and I got tricked early on by the sorceror when he called a wolf hit on the seer. We spent a good ten minutes with all five votes on one person, which I could see a seer with a hit doing, so I switched, then I died at night, and then the bad guys won. Our villager was trying to play open sorceror the whole time, but the wolf wasn't fooled. Oh well.

Also spent a fair amount of time getting my grips in New York in Assassin's Creed 3. I hadn't really had time to explore it before now, so I figured I would jump off some buildings, collect some more assassins. Recruiting the New York assassins is actually harder, since you have to do three sets of missions three times instead of just two sets, and one of the sets I had to do was just awful, in which I have to defend a farmer from like a dozen jerk lobsterbacks, which spikes my suspicious level in an area completely devoid of ways to get rid of them. I was just...so sick of running away from dozens of soldiers. I don't want to fight them, I just want them to leave me alone.

Anyway, recruited two new assassins, adding the options to lure and ambush people. There was a really awful line read during one of the recruitment missions. Also, half of New York has been burnt to the ground. That's all I got to say about Assassin's Creed 3 right now.

What I Played Today: September 28

Werewolf

I played a quick game of Werewolf online for some reason. And it was quick because I was the werewolf and I was bad at it. My strategies did not work, probably because I was a little drunk, and everyone was like, "Oh, is it over?" when I died. It was weird.

So that game of Werewolf I was hosting ended today. That's all I'm saying about it. Yeah, a small break is in order.

What I Played Today: August 7

Risk Legacy, Core Worlds, Werewolf

I got to play in that game of Risk Legacy that I tagged into a month ago. For some reason, someone named a city Thor's Butthole, and people occasionally tell horrible jokes for what feels like ten hours straight. But the game had a lot of interesting back and forth, where each player in turn kept on having a chance to win the game, and then fails, and then the next player takes a try, and then fails. Eventually I won the game by quickly skirmishing a couple of bases real quick, and I got to sign the board. And then, because I'm a huge jerk, I decreased the value of Australia by 1. Mwahahaha!

Then I kinda sleptwalked through a game of Core Worlds. You would think, not paying too much attention, I would not win, but you would be wrong, because I'm pretty great. I started with an early thin deck strategy, and then just started buying planets worth victory points, with a few minor good drafts. It went pretty well.

And in that Werewolf game I'm hosting...so...the hunter decided to claim Werewolf. It was a bold move, but one that required...attention, which wasn't given, when it happened that the player accidentally killed the seer, the most important role in the game. It was...kind of insane. I am kind of in over my head!

Werewolf

I started moderating my first game of Werewolf today! And it went poorly! One of the werewolves showed up for five minutes, and then never came back, so the werewolf was lynched, and then the remaining werewolf killed off their hidden teammate. So...it's seven against one. That one is not going to win.

What I Played Today: May 16

Werewolf

I got an unexpected invite to hang in a chat room and play werewolf. So I went and somehow ending up being there for three hours! Jeez! We never got the five people we wanted for a true game, but we did have some interesting 3-player games. Someone came up with a ruleset in which there were five different sets possible, but you didn't know which set was in play, you just knew your own role. It was pretty clever. Also played some 2-player games, which I did not understand. But yeah, eventually my brain burned out, and I quit.

Werewolf

So, I've been playing Werewolf on forums, and I kinda can't do anything without absolutely everyone assuming I'm evil. If I agree with someone, I'm evil. If I go my own way, I'm evil. If I provide an excuse for voting a particular way, I'm evil. If I say nothing, I'm evil. The fact that in all three games I'm currently playing I totally am evil shouldn't excuse the fact that it feels like everyone is constantly ganging up on me. There must be something I can do to keep people from yelling at me.

Guild Wars 2, Werewolf

I am ready for release! Not that I am not interested, super interested, but I would prefer my actions to stick. I really got into it today, and it was pretty great. Lots of places to explore, lots of things to care about. I made it to Beetletun, and they really went all out storywise here. There's a ton of chained quests here, and it is really interesting. I grinded my way up to level 11 to see what traits were all about (answer: meh. Poor man's talent trees), but right now, I want a release, so that all this stuff I'm doing sticks. I get it, guys, I like it, now make it count.

Also, played some late night Werewolf, which was unexpected but fun. I literally only joined because I clicked the wrong button on a website, but I won both games, so that was nice. I actually won the second game through impossible odds...I was a villager against a werewolf and her sorcerer, and somehow SOMEHOW I convinced the sorcerer to vote with me by telling all of the truth. Didn't even try to lie. I guess the werewolf was too pushy, I don't know. Anyway, it was great. There was some drama...but, I wasn't involved, so no need to even discuss it here. Pretend that last sentence didn't happen. Also that one. And that one.
