What I Played Today: June 18

Peggle Nights, Reus

Still Internet-less, and I thought about packing today, but then I said "Screw it!" so I went home and screwed around with a few games that were just chilling on my Steam list. First a simple 15 levels of Peggle Nights, because Peggle. Peggle's pretty great, right? Did they announce Peggle 2? I think some guy did something weird when it happened.

Then I played a couple of games of Reus, which I guess I haven't talked about yet? Must have played it during the lost weeks. Anyway, this game has you in control of four giants who can create biomes on this planet, and populate it with resources. You try to manage the resources, synergize them with each other, so that the villages that emerge can prosper and complete their projects. The type of thing you get depends on what you place and in what biome, and you can upgrade it if you give it the right aspect, and it seems complicated, but it's really fun to just crunch at and try to figure out. The game is divided up so that you have to get a certain number of achievements before you unlock the next set of resources, and I finally managed to unlock Level 2 after about four games. Then I saw the achievements required for Level 3, and I said "Oof." I can't get a village to 250 prosperity, how am I suppose to get one to 3000? Maybe the new resources will help.

EVE Online, Peggle Nights

Probably played EVE. That seems like something that I would do.

Also I recall playing Peggle Nights. It was late, I don't know, I just felt like doing it. What can I possibly ever say about Peggle?

Harvest Moon: A New Beginning, Peggle

I made it to Winter! Both in Harvest Moon, and in real life. It is superweird that you can still grow stuff while there is snow on the ground in Harvest Moon. I mean, it beats doing nothing, but still...weird. But hey, I might make it to spring and might just see the ending. Who knows?

Also played a bit of Peggle, because I was being boring today.

Peggle

I played Peggle today. Good for me. Those last few levels are goddamn dumb. They are these rigid unnatural lines that you can't effectively bounce off of, and I have to choose my own superpower and I have no idea what would be good. I am stressing out about Peggle!

Summoner Wars, The Ares Project, Peggle, Magic: The Gathering

Morning gaming, played a couple of two player games. In a game of Summoner Wars, I managed to lose because while I was super aggressive, I did not expect my opponent to be able to steal all my guys and knock my summoner into a corner, trapping him. I also managed to get stupid with some placement of some of my guys and managed to create a long wall preventing backup from getting to my boss. What a dummie I am. Also in the Ares Project, and got my ass kicked in the basic game again because the game is not balanced at that level. It sucks that it is necessary to play this version to help people understand the game, because the Terrans do not stand a chance against the literally superior Khalis or whatever they call them. But it does sound like I’ve convinced someone to play the real game, so that’ll be great.

Also played Peggle, which is an experience that you probably understand and isn’t worth comment, and continue to play Magic: The Gathering PC game. I hope that the 2013 version is in the works, because I would love to play with some of the new cards that I’m seeing coming through. I am also really tempted to buy some new decks, and I really shouldn’t.

Mass Effect 2, Peggle

Let me first mention that Peggle was on sale, and I haven’t played Peggle to any real extent, so I downloaded and played Peggle for like an hour. Why did I suddenly detour my quest to play Peggle? Because something big and scary happened in Mass Effect 2, that’s why. I want to talk about it in detail, so I’m going to drop hide the part where I talk about the endgame.

SPOILERS DUMMIES.
