Super Mario Galaxy 2
The playing of Super Mario Galaxy 2 continues, and the game continues to toy with me in the last world, where I’m constantly trying to rush towards the final boss and keeps putting up roadblocks. First I need 60 stars to continue, then I have to defeat a mildly difficult area, then I have to get 65 starts, and then another difficult area, and now I have to get 70 stars! This kind of teasing is getting ridiculous. I mean, in every other Mario game you only needed 60 stars before you faced Bowser, and they were a lot easier to get in the earlier free-roaming Mario games. In this game there are more areas to explore, and a good 40 percent of the stars that I’ve seen so far are either hidden or attached to comets. Each area only has two stars at most that you can reliably attempt to get, and most areas only have three stars period, which means you need to clear 25 whole areas to get to Bowser. That seems a bit excessive, especially considering the difficulty is a bit higher than before. But I guess it wouldn’t be an expansion if it wasn’t harder in some way.
