What I Played Today: December 26

Guild Wars 2, Super Mario 3D Land

I have defeated Bowser today! Screw you Bowser! I had to cheat though, the last level of running away from fireballs was too much for me, so I had a moment of weakness and took that magical invincibility raccoon suit. I'm sorry. So Bowser dies for the fifth time, and I get the princess and turns out there are like eight more worlds? Holy shit. I did a few of those, then went back and tried to find all the star coins, then cheated and looked online to where the star coins are, then though, "this is dumb," and closed the DS. Seriously, I'm sure this is great, but man...     MAN.

Also more Guild Wars 2. Kessex Hills is done. I saved the queen from some asshole. Level 30, so I get an epic skill now. The epic skills are lame...they are all on a three-minute timer, and they are all not that exciting. Oh boy, I can summon a wolf. How exciting.

Guild Wars 2, Super Mario 3D Land

More of that there Super Mario 3D Land. Mario sure can jump.

Also I think I'm back on a Guild Wars 2 thing. Listening to a podcast, decided that running around completing areas would be a good use of my time. Got to fill out Kessex Hills, figure out how to get to the hidden frog kingdom. That'll make sense to you someday.

Don't Starve, Super Mario 3D Land

More Don't Starve, it is starting to get kinda dull. I don't know, it's the same routine every time. I finally last more than a week, and then I was suddenly attacked by wolves! That fucking sucks! Will it just spawn wolves to makes things shitty for me? Is this how this goes?

Also decided to finish up Super Mario 3D Land, got through a couple of worlds. It's...pretty competent.

What I Played Today: October 16

Avalon, Risk Legacy, Dance Central 3, Rift, Super Mario 3D Land, Pushmo

Got to try out Avalon, the Resistance sequel? that adds a bunch of roles, and I like it because roles are awesome. Good lost because of a couple of failed early missions, and while we did manage to get four known goods, we just didn't have the wiggle room to get more info later on. And Merlin was a non-starter, so there's that. Although, I ended up being super-trusted somehow, which was weird.

Then a game of Risk Legacy, that I hadn't played in five games, and apparently things had gotten nuclear. I was pretty much a non-entity, just kinda hanging in North America, slowly building up my hand, but the zombies snuck a victory before I could release my game winning, packet-opening maneuver. That sucks.

Then Dance Central 3! I love how goddamn stupid this story is. "Yeah, Dr. Tan is building dance robots and taking over the world with time travel? Don't think too much about it, just get out there and dance to 'I Will Survive.'" Although medium is a lot harder than I remember it being. Either that or I am a fat asshole.

I logged into Rift and did some Instant Adventures, which took me to a starting zone and deleveled me to 14. For a second there, I thought it was doing the Guild Wars 2 trick, but it turns out I could have bumped my level back up if I really wanted to. I don't know...the expansion comes out in a month. Maybe that'll be worth it?

Then I dicked around on my 3DS while watching Homeland. Finally beat that one level in Pushmo that had been giving me problems. Don't know how, but I did it.

Guild Wars 2, Super Mario 3D Land, FTL

I finished up both Lion's Arch and Rata Sum today by cheating! Although that was really the only way to do it, because for some reason, one of the Points of Interest could only be reached by diving into the water at a place completely across town from the where the POI is indicated, swim through a maze of sewers, and find a hidden platform. It is bananas that they think this was a cool idea. Okay, I lie, it is a cool idea, but a frutrating one.

I also jumped into the World vs World content, and it's fairly interesting! There's scenarios and locations and objectives and a ton of stuff. Probably the only thing that is discouraging is that my world is winning so unevenly, and apparently we are the big fish in the little pond, since we are planted third from the bottom in the rankings, so of course we are blowing these guys away. But I can see liking this once I get bored of the main content, which I apparently already am!

Also logged into FTL while trying in vain to watch a television show. I made it a bit of a ways. I just want the new spaceships, you guys. Give me more spaceships.

I also remembered I had purchased Super Mario 3D Land, and played that a little bit. It's pretty neat. Feels very like Super Mario 64, but also it's in 3D. Good use of the hardware. FINALLY.
