What I Played Today: Blerp

I've been behind, I apologize. Let me tell you about a couple of things;

I got the new Persona 4 game, and it's a silly dancing game. I've played exactly one dance sequence so far, not sure what I'm waiting for, the aesthetic is really good. Everyone is wearing a yellow bandana somewhere, it took me like two hours to figure this out. Fun fun.

I got all the elements for Super Mario Maker, and now I have no idea what to do! I read this article where all the most popular Super Mario Maker levels are all stupid gimmicks and garbage (that was my interpretation), so I don't want to just shovel hard garbage into it, you know?

I played some Magic Duels, that's a game. How about that?

They released Shop Heroes on iOS, which I have decided to switch to, because it's nice to be able to play while on the phone and I'm bored. The interface is kinda small, but there's also a Facebook version tied to it, so...there we go.

ANYWAY, I'll try to be more interesting soon.

Super Mario Maker

I played a bit of Super Mario Maker! This game is just getting more interesting with time, and I am starting to realllly want to just buy Super Mario 3 and Super Mario World and play through them again. Because those games were amazing! Like, Super Mario Bros was okay, but when you consider just the production time, Three and World literally changed everything, immediately, TWICE. Heck, even Super Mario World 2 was innovative, if only it was less annoying. And then 64 happened. Then Sunshine. Then Galaxy. It's...just insane how nearly every single Mario game is the best game released for the series so far for 25 years. (Also, shut up, I LIKED Sunshine.) I wish the most recent games were...you know...magic. I guess that happens with age.

Anyway, yeah, Super Mario Maker.

Splatoon, Super Mario Maker

I made a quick decision today (which might be a mistake based on my future vision, in which I suddenly need to buy new tires), and decided to buy a WiiU, because the time seems ripe! The console kinda keeps getting better, you know? I picked up the Splatoon bundle, as well as picked up the thing du jour, Super Mario Maker.

I got it set up and started playing, only to start losing pretty much constantly. That's not a great feeling! But the game is kind of pretty good. It's a shooter that cares more about territory control than K/D ratios, it makes a lot of interesting subtle decisions (like during the character creation screen, the "girl" option is on the left side) and it's just...kinda fun! I have a lot of fun finding a corner of the world that I can cover up, and occasionally fighting over territory near the center. Too bad I can't seem to win...at all, but I'll have a new weapon soon, then they will see...

In Super Mario Maker, I made a couple of very simple levels, and then was uncermoniously told to come back in two days to get some more tools. All I got right now is goombas! What am I going to do with just goombas? Have it rain goombas? That's silly.
