What I Played Today: July 5

Dragon Age Inquisition

I put in Dragon Age: Inquisition and gave it turn, because I heard some people talking about how far behind they were, and it turns out they were further along than me! I guess this game really is a dozen years long. Anyway, I jumped in and immediately got to work on a story mission, and had to choose between Mages and Templars, because that is apparently a thing in Dragon Age.

I chose mages because they are cooler, and now I'm on a mission to steal mages out from under this insane magister or whatever, so we wander in and call his bluff and kill all his guards, and he responds by sending forward in time! So the future sucks, there's a bunch of red rocks everywhere, and also a ton of water on the floor (which I didn't understand), and apparently the world is about to end, because the magister summoned a demon army to kill everyone. Thanks, Magister.

So, I decide that the only option is to go back in time before this all happens, and there's a lot of running around an impossibly large castle, and kill the magister, and then return to the present. We convince the magister to stop being a dick and go home, and then the king shows up and kicks the mages out? I guess the mages weren't supposed to be there? So because the mages have nowhere to go, I offer them a place to stay (because I need their help anyway), and get the option to either take them prisoner or let them live with me as allies. The first option seemed PRETTY DICKISH, so I chose the second option, and suddenly everyone is mad at me! Apparently everyone is racist against mages.

But everyone agrees that what's done is done, I go and talk to everyone about my decision, then I realize I'm not high-enough level for the next story mission, so it's off to the desert to do some leveling up and staring through creepy skulls!

What I Played Today: January 4

Dragon Age: Inquisition

I played a bit of Dragon Age, going back to the shitty swamp full of shitty undead to fight some shitty...giants? I think they are giants. At least ONE of them is a giant, but the rest seem to be normal-sized people. Maybe if the loading screen actually stayed active on the part where I can read something I can learn some lore about this silly world. It's frustrating, the loading screen first shows a mountain scene where you can read up on some random lore, but maybe five seconds later, it will go to dark and spend another EIGHT seconds loading. This was poorly planned.

Anyway, I killed the bad guy giant somehow (lots of trial and error, I hope this combat system clicks eventually), and then save a bunch of soldiers, and then invite the good guy giant to join my team! Come on, good guy giant! Come hit some zombies with your giant gnarled club!

And We're Back

Oh hey. Didn't see you there. I was just over here playing...Desktop Dungeons? That game's over a year old? Bizarre. Yeah, that's what I've been doing for the past year.

Okay, so I've fallen off and even let my domain name lapse, but over the holidays, I realized that I really wanted to start talking about games again, I really wanted to start writing again, and I kinda liked having a record of what I did every day. So I retrieved the domain name (for SOME REASON, nobody bought it) and we're going to do this again. Every day, I promise. (Well, until I get on a boat in a month, but shush.)

But what have I been doing this past year, you might be wondering? Did I really give up on playing games? Of course not. So, as a catch-up, here's an incomplete list of what I've been playing in 2014 based on my terrible memory. Ahem.
